The First Look at The Widows, The Wandering Widow

While the finishing touches are being added to the final look of The Widows From Waste collection, we took one of the completed widows and headed out to the snowy but sunny spring day here in Finland.

Previously, I approached the versatile artist Fiia with a request for a sneak peek photoshoot of the upcoming collection of TORN. With her aboard, all we needed was a beautiful weather. With spring right on the doorstep, we got extremely lucky earlier this month when the temperatures fell well under 0°C but the bright sun blazed from a pale blue sky.

On a rather short notice, we rushed out to one of the last winter days of 2023 with The Widow, the cameras, and a very patient assistant, Pia, whom we ambushed with a warning time of maybe 15 minutes. My humblest thanks to them both for their work!

The Widows are wandering the world looking for their lost lovers… The Wandering Widow is one of them, in search of the humans who once wore the clothes The Widow is assembled from. But in this wide, empty world, The Widow is doomed to never find its old companions.

The Wandering Widow walks through the frozen world in its melancholic search, ending up at the ruins of an old stone church. There the weary Widow finds a seat and enters the mourning, forgotten and left behind.

What a wonderful little project this was, and it is rewarding beyond words to see the work put into the new collection coming to life. The selected pictures by the photographer will be featured here in the new Gallery page under the title The Wandering Widow. More of the many wonderful photos from this shoot will be shared over at the official Instagram page of TORN over time.

Now it is time to get back to work and plan the photoshoot of the full collection. Such exciting times ahead!

Sincerely

Iina
